The greatest comeback story is the story of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It seemed all hope was lost when He was crucified and buried. For a moment it was like hell’s final victory. But hell’s celebration was short-lived.
Let’s begin with what killed Him. Isaiah 53:4-5 says, “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; by His stripes we are healed.” He was wounded for our transgressions.
• Sin inflicts wounds and injuries. Most of us have learnt that by experience.
• Many are bleeding from emotional wounds caused by sin. Broken relationships and marriages have left many wounded and bruised.
• We are all too familiar with the devastating effects of ethnic, racial and religious hate.
• Many peoples’ lives have been cut down prematurely as a result of sexually transmitted diseases.
• Not to mention those that have been ruined by drugs and alcohol.
• Sin has brought wounds to individuals, families, communities and nations.
Jesus died for our sins. But on the third day He made a dramatic comeback: He rose from the dead and is alive for ever more! He was back in three days. The worst crisis became the greatest testimony. The greatest fall became the greatest come back.

The ultimate consequence of sin is death. I am not talking about physical death but eternity in hell fire. Hell is a rotten, smelly, scary, horrible place of indescribable agony and pain which will never end. Jesus died that we might escape hell and spend eternity with Him in heaven.
