THE DANGERS OF IDOL WORSHIP

“Wherefore the wrath of the LORD was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to astonishment, and to hissing, as ye see with your eyes. [9] For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.”
2 Chronicles 29:8-9

2 Chronicles 29:6-9 is a chilling account of what happens when people turn away from God to worship idols.
• God’s anger
• Delivered to trouble
• Astonishment
• Hissing
• Violent death
• Sons and daughters in captivity.

Many sons and daughters are in captivity because of ancestral idolatry. What did your ancestors worship? Take a deep look at your family; what type of problem or problems are common?

The solution is given in verse 10; “Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.”
Make a covenant with God. Give your life to Christ, clean up the mess in your family through repentance and reconciliation. Get rid of the idols and serve God through Christ. You will receive God’s mercy and you will be delivered from captivity. Seek for deliverance.

PRAY: Dear Lord, forgive us the sins of idol worship which I and my ancestors have committed; I make a new covenant with you through the Blood of Jesus to serve you and you only, in Jesus Name.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION: I command every form of satanic captivity in your family and in your life to be terminated now, in the Name of Jesus!
