FEELING ABANDONED? – Part 1

“When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.” [13] “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt? But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Median.”
Judges 6:12-13 (NIV)

Gideon obviously heard the stories of how God delivered Israel from bondage in Egypt with strong miracles but in contrast, Israel’s current situation did not match Gideon’s expectation. It did not match the stories he had heard about the power of God or about Israel being special to God. His conclusion was that if those stories are true, then God must have abandoned Israel.

Do you sometimes feel abandoned by God? There are times one is simply overwhelmed by one’s situation when all efforts have failed. You look at the promises of God and His awesome power to deliver and wonder if it is all true. 

Don’t be discouraged, God has not left you. He is closer than you know. He has promised never to leave you or forsake you and He means it. Practice His presence and you will begin to experience Him more and more.

PRAY: Father, help me to continue to trust You even while passing through a difficult time, in Jesus name.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION: God will soon visit you and get you out of the hands of your enemies, in Jesus name!
